Colour Tool User Guide

Overview:

The Color Tool is designed to assist users in visualizing and understanding colours in different formats, including Color Names, RGB (Red-Green-Blue), and Hexadecimal (Hex) codes.

Getting Started:

Understanding the Interface: The tool consists of various input fields and displays:
Colour Picker: A visual picker to choose any colour.
RGB Input: Input for the RGB format, e.g., `255,0,0`.
Hex Input: Input for the Hexadecimal format, e.g., `#FF0000`.
Colour Name Input: Input for the common name of a colour, e.g., `Red`.
Colour Display: A large visual display that showcases the selected colour.
Colour Details Display: Displays the Color Name, RGB, and Hex values of the selected colour.

Using the Tool:

Selecting a Color:

Using the Color Picker:

Click on the colour picker input, and a colour palette will pop up. Select your desired colour, and the tool will automatically display the colour, its name, RGB, and Hex values.

Using RGB:

Click on the RGB input field, then type in the Red, Green, and Blue values separated by commas. As you input, the tool will automatically translate this to a visual colour, its name, and its Hex value.

Using Hex:

Click on the Hex input field and type in the Hexadecimal value of a colour. The tool will show the corresponding visual colour, its name, and its RGB values.

Using Color Name:

Click on the Color Name input field and type the name of a commonly recognized colour (e.g., `Red`, `Blue`, `Green`, etc.). The tool will automatically display the colour, its RGB, and its Hex values.

Reading the Output:

Once a colour is selected using any method, the large colour display will update to showcase the chosen colour.Below the colour display, you’ll find details:

Name: Common name of the selected colour.
RGB: The RGB values of the selected colour.
Hex: The Hexadecimal code of the chosen colour.

Clearing an Input:

If you wish to switch between input methods (e.g., from RGB to Hex or Color Name), simply click on another input field, and the previous input will be cleared. This ensures there’s no confusion when inputting values.

Tips:

Ensure you input RGB values in the correct format, separated by commas.
Hex values should include the `#` symbol, e.g., `#FFA500` for orange.
Colour names are case-insensitive, so `red`, `Red`, and `RED` will all be recognized as the same colour.

Troubleshooting:

If the colour does not update or if you see a value of “N/A”, ensure you’ve inputted the values correctly.
For the best experience, use modern browsers that support colour input types and JavaScript.
